A Medal for Life, a biography of Lieut William Leefe Robinson VC

I was interested in this slim volume as, as a child and young adult I lived not too far from where he is buried and have been in the pub/resturant that bears his name thats more or less opposite the graveyard. He was quite a character according to the book but there's alot in it that goes off on bit of a tangent which is a shame. My Grandmother lived in Paddington at the time when Leefe Robinson shot down the German Zeppilien and actually saw it! She always said the flames were bright enough to read a book by!
This is a short book, my interest in it is the fact I lived not far from Leefe Robinson’s grave and also the pub ( now a Miller & Carter steak house) named after him. It’s short on detail to be honest and some the end appendixes bear little reference to Leefe Robinson but generally it’s ok. https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1186378906i/1651387.jpg

The Road to Little Dribbling by Bill Bryson

Ages ago I'd heard a Bill Bryson book serialised on the radio. It was quite good so when Tara suggested we listen toanother one onaudio books I thought it was a good idea. Got to say I was overall dissappointed. Here's my short review on Goodreads: I liked this book in parts. Some of it was amusing but I was more irritated by it really! I can't believe Bill Bryson has met so many disinterested and sullen people in the UK! There's area's he speaks of that I know well though I barely recognise them from his descriptions. When he visits Scotland he doesn't say anything about Inverness, a beautiful town, where he arrives on the train but goes onto somewhere else that he can moan about. Its an Ok book but hasn't inspired me to read any more by him. https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1453060108i/25733419.jpg
